Where Is Porto Timoni in Corfu?
The twin beach of Porto Timoni is located in the northwest of Corfu, close to the village of Afionas. There are two different ways to reach Porto Timoni: on foot via a hiking trail or by boat.
If you want to reach the bay on foot, the best option is to drive directly to Afionas. If you prefer visiting Porto Timoni by boat, head to Agios Georgios Beach and take a boat taxi from there.
Parking at Porto Timoni
In Afionas, there is a designated parking area for Porto Timoni visitors. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. If you arrive outside these hours, there’s a good chance of finding a parking spot along the road. We arrived at around 8:00 AM and managed to park opposite a café.
Parking: Google Maps Link
Opening hours: Daily from 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Visiting Porto Timoni by Boat
Porto Timoni can be reached not only on foot but also by boat from nearby villages. You can either take a boat taxi or rent your own boat and sail to the bay.
For the boat taxi, the best place to go is Agios Georgios Beach. Prices are approximately €10–20 per person, per trip.
You can also combine both options: hike one way and return by boat taxi.
The Porto Timoni Hike – Tips & Directions
The hiking trail to Porto Timoni is actually not very long, but it is far from easy. In some sections, you’ll walk over large rocks and stones, while parts of the trail are narrow and quite steep.
You should definitely wear proper footwear and carefully consider the time of day for your hike. Most of the trail is exposed to the sun, and especially around midday it can get extremely hot.
The hike to the beach takes approximately 30–40 minutes. After around 20–25 minutes, you’ll already reach the famous viewpoint. Some visitors only come here for photos. However, we highly recommend continuing down to the beach and cooling off in the crystal-clear water.

If you still haven’t had enough of hiking, there is another trail leading from the beach to the next bay. Here, you’ll find far fewer people and can enjoy a more secluded atmosphere. But more on that later.
Porto Timoni Viewpoint
On your way to the bay, you’ll also pass the famous Porto Timoni viewpoint, where you’ll get the iconic bird’s-eye view of the twin bay (Google Maps Link). You’ll reach it after about 20–25 minutes of hiking. The spectacular scenery instantly rewards you for the effort.
You’ll probably need to take a short break here anyway, as everyone wants to snap a photo at this spot. Even when we arrived shortly after 8:00 AM, we had to wait briefly before taking our pictures.
The Porto Timoni Twin Beach
The beach at Porto Timoni is truly stunning. Like in many places on Corfu, you’ll find crystal-clear blue water that instantly invites you to jump in and cool off. Despite the number of visitors, there is still almost no tourist infrastructure here, which allows the beach to maintain its natural charm.
That means you won’t find any places to buy food or drinks. There are also no sunbeds or umbrellas and only limited natural shade. Make sure to bring everything you need yourself. At the very least, pack plenty of water and sunscreen in your backpack.
Tip: Be sure to pack sturdy hiking shoes, sunscreen, enough water (at least 1.5L per person), snacks, and if possible, snorkeling gear. The water is crystal clear and perfect for snorkeling!
If you want to enjoy the beach in peace, it’s best to visit early in the morning or later in the evening. We arrived around 9:00 AM and had the beach almost to ourselves for the first 1.5 hours. From around 10:30 AM onwards, it gradually became busier. More hikers arrived via the trail, and more taxi boats started dropping visitors off at the beach.
More Highlights at Porto Timoni Corfu
As it started getting crowded around 10:30 AM, we decided to leave the beach. However, driven by curiosity, we didn’t head back up the hiking trail right away but instead walked in the opposite direction.
What we didn’t know beforehand was that there’s another small hiking path here. Unfortunately, some visitors use parts of this path as a toilet. Tissues can be found along the edges, which honestly doesn’t make for the nicest sight. The best thing to do is ignore it and keep walking.
If you follow the path and turn left after a while, you’ll reach an incredible rocky coastline. On one side, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the opposite coast, and on the other, you can admire the vibrant colors of the water crashing against the rocks right in front of you. It felt absolutely magical.
Once you head back to the main path and continue walking, you’ll eventually arrive at a secluded hidden beach. During the last few meters, we had to push our way through some bushes, but we were rewarded with this beautiful little cove. There were countless butterflies around the flowers, though sadly quite a bit of trash as well. Still, we enjoyed a peaceful break here before slowly making our way back.
Tip: After the steep climb back up, you’ve definitely earned a reward. Taverna Anemos in Afionas offers spectacular views over the twin bay and serves delicious traditional Greek cuisine – the perfect stop after your hike.
